Green Day's explosive, award-winning Broadway musical American Idiot, comes to the Shelley Theatre in Boscombe, brought to you by PARTS. 

 

American Idiot tells the story of of three boyhood friends searching for there meaning in a Post 9/11 world. This winner of  two Tony Awards® and the 2010 Grammy Award winner for Best Musical Show album features music from Green Day with lyrics by Billie Joe Armstrong and book by Billie Joe Armstrong and Michael Mayer.

In 2004 the US rock band Green Day released their album American Idiot inspired from rock operas including Jesus Christ Superstar and The Who's Tommy. In 2009 director Michael Mayer worked with Billie Joe Armstrong to transform the album to stage told through the journey of three friends. After a great success and two extensions to its limited run, it transferred to Broadway in 2010. The Musical includes Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns, Holiday, Wake Me Up When September Ends and the title track American Idiot.
